Where AI Gets Its Heart
The University of Maryland is developing the next generation of artificial intelligence education, technology and leaders through interdisciplinary research that focuses on the responsible and ethical use of AI.
AIM has openings for 30 tenured and/or tenure-track faculty positions in artificial intelligence, broadly defined. Apply by December 13, 2024 for best consideration.
UMD faculty members may either apply for a Course Development Grant ($10,000) or an Experiential Learning and Community-Engaged Course Development Grant (up to $25,000) for courses focused on any aspect of AI or AI general education courses. Applications due February 17, 2025.
This seed program has three different tracks: Cross-College Collaborative Awards, Individual Faculty and Student Awards, and AIM Fellows. Deadlines in February 2025.

AI-infused systems have the potential to enhance human capacity and creativity, mitigate complex societal challenges, and foster innovation. Achieving this requires a joint effort between those pushing the boundaries of new AI technologies, those who innovate AI applications, and those who study human values and how people and society interact with AI.
